Types of Marriage Certificates:

There are two types of marriage certificates in Pakistan, so let’s take a look at Nadra Marriage Certificate (MRC).

• Marriage certificate in Urdu – Nikkah Nama
• Certificate of Computerized Marriage Registration issued by NADRA

In the Nikah ceremony, the Nikah Khawan (Nikah Registrar) solemnizes the contract. Upon completion, he signs and stamps the Urdu Nikahnama.

An Urdu Nikahnama contains the signatures of the bride, the groom, and the witnesses.

NADRA (Islamic) marriage registration certificates contain details about a married couple in both Urdu and English. To confirm the marriage contract between couples, NADRA Marriage Registration Certificates are accepted by foreign authorities.

A Pakistani Marriage Certificate is required for a UK, UAE, or USA family visa or spouse visa. The Government of Pakistan issues it, so it is accepted globally.

Computerized Marriage Certificate (MRC):

In Pakistan, who issues computerized marriage certificates?

Marriage certificates are not issued by NADRA. The following authorities issue Nadra Marriage Certificates:

• Union Council
• TMA Office
• Cantonment Board Office
• Arbitration Council Office

NADRA Marriage Certificate Application and Requirements:

• Urdu Nikahnama
• CNIC (Bride and Groom)
• CNIC of the Father (Bride and Groom)
• CNIC of Nikkah Khawan
• Copies of Passport (In case of foreigner)

Certificates can be got from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Hyderabad, and Peshawar

The TMA offices are the issuing authorities for people living in small cities. Marriage certificates can be obtained from the Arbitration Council office in Islamabad.

Verify that all the details on your marriage certificate are accurate. Check them against your official documents. In the event that there is a typo mistake on the part of the issuing office, you can request a correction.

Can I check Nadra’s Marriage Certificate Online?

NADRA does not offer marriage certificate verification or online check services.
